The FCRA legal team will proactively assist voters in underserved communities, fight voter suppression, and provide a defense to those facing unjust harassment and criminal prosecution by state actors.​​

The issues we face in Florida

  • Florida’s new “election police” is unfairly targeting voters in Florida, particularly those in underserved communities. 

    • Citizens who have been told by election agencies that they are eligible to vote and even given voter ID cards are being arrested. â€‹â€‹

  • Underserved communities, particularly those of color, tend to see longer lines at their polling places. This increased wait time creates another hinderance, increasing the likelihood the citizens will .

    • FCRA will reach out to local Supervisors of Elections to ensure that proper staffing decisions are made prior to Election Day.​

  • Our teachers' right to free speech is under attack in the State of Florida.

    • New academic guidelines change Black history is taught, even saying that some Black Americans benefited from slavery.​

  • The Florida Legislature passed its so-called “anti-riot” bill, which was primarily targeted toward Black Lives Matter activists.

    • The law penalizes peaceful protesters who are not engaged in criminal behavior.
